There are people in
our lives that make an
impact on us.
A lot of those just
happen to be teachers.
Here is a chance to say
thanks.
Please tell us who you are.
Schools were closed, then opened, then closed and opened again. Kids were sent home to quarantine and Zoom classrooms became all the norm. Teachers did as best they could. Parents, caught off guard, put in that extra effort to support their children’s learning. Often it was an overwhelming experience. But parents and teachers came to see each other in a new light.

Now with schools open and teachers back in class, it's time to reflect on what we've all been through and how we've depended on each other. And now, on World Teachers Day, let's throw teachers a well-deserved 'thank you.'
"On behalf of Alberta's teachers, thank you, parents for all you have done over the last 18 months to help support learning to continue."
– Jason Schilling, ATA President

Thanks to all Alberta teachers for the good work you do with all our students, especially in these difficult times with a provincial government who devalues your work.

Being retired and having enjoyed 39 years in the world of education, I can truly say that I have never had to cope with a pandemic and online teaching. Hats off to all of the teachers and especially those working with my grandchildren. Thanks.

I’m proud to be a member of a family of teachers. My Aunts were teachers and excellent role models. My sister was also a teacher and my niece and I both graduated from U of A.
Firstly thank you to my Aunts that made such an impact on our lives. Secondly thank you to my colleagues that made a difference in my career and impacted so many, many students.

From a retired teacher, I know the challenges that teachers face every day and marvel and thank them for it often.
This last almost 2 years of covid has been significantly challenging, and I wonder how they even do it now. So I thank you all, teachers, and may you have some significant rest and relief this year.

As a retired teacher and principal I know hard our teachers work on a daily basis…
What I don’t know is how much more difficult it has been over the past 2 years – ie. the Pandemic… I can guess but I would probably not come close…

I constantly think of how tough things must be…
Thank you all for doing what you do !

Thanks to Mr. V for keeping music vital at @Crawfordplains. Thanks to Mrs. Blessing, Mrs. Rhodes and Mrs. House for helping me appreciate learning at Bryan elementary school. They allowed me to carry my willingness to inquire and ongoing curiosity from my schoolwork, into my life and beyond. This outlook it is reflected in my musical pursuits with mentor Dr. Leonard Ratzlaff (pictured) and amongst my everyday volunteering activities.

I would like to thank my Jr. High Band teacher Paul Brown. He made a huge impact on me, not only in the band room, but he showed me that I mattered, and that I had worth. I have since become a band teacher myself, and love sharing the gift of music with my students. Thanks Paul!

I’d like to thank my wife Kandel for the effort and dedication she has to being a great teacher. She not only influences our children, but many of her schools students along the way. The experiences she provides them help to create positive life long memories, skills, and attitudes. Good job!
