There are people in
our lives that make an
impact on us.
A lot of those just
happen to be teachers.
Here is a chance to say
thanks.
Please tell us who you are.
Schools were closed, then opened, then closed and opened again. Kids were sent home to quarantine and Zoom classrooms became all the norm. Teachers did as best they could. Parents, caught off guard, put in that extra effort to support their children’s learning. Often it was an overwhelming experience. But parents and teachers came to see each other in a new light.

Now with schools open and teachers back in class, it's time to reflect on what we've all been through and how we've depended on each other. And now, on World Teachers Day, let's throw teachers a well-deserved 'thank you.'
"On behalf of Alberta's teachers, thank you, parents for all you have done over the last 18 months to help support learning to continue."
– Jason Schilling, ATA President

As a retired teacher I understand and appreciate the work you do and the support you offer our students. During the pandemic things are even more difficult yet teachers carry on. You are amazing. Thanks for all your efforts to help students learn.

Mrs Govereau, École St Mary, Whitecourt.

Thank you for going the extra mile to truly understand your students. All of them! Especially the ones who need a little extra support with emotional regulation and patience.

You go above and beyond, and everything you is appreciated beyond measure!

I know what your life is like and I applaud your perseverance. I only wish I could make you job easier.

We won’t go far without your work with our youngsters…and employers will be smart to support your work instead of denigrate it.

And our government really has to pick it up! Their lack of understanding of what you do outside of work hours…let alone what you do in the school all day…is infuriating to me.

Know that we support you! We will keep up the fight to support your work.

I would like to give a big shout out to all the teaching staffs during this pandemic; I thank the good Lord that we were spared this in the last 35 years of the twentieth century when I was teaching!

The work you do shapes the world.
My sister was a special ed. teacher and the love, devotion and nurturing she gave her students was amazing. A job I couldn’t do.
I remember all my K-12 teachers, even though I am 71 now. The one who helped and nudged me on to a lifelong love of reading. The one who made math fun-it became so easy, became my favourite subject.
I admire all that you do. Thanks.

As a retired administrator, resource teacher and classroom teacher, I know the love, dedication, support, professionalism and care the many teachers I have had the privilege to work with give to their students each and every day. The work of a teacher is immense and does not stop at the end of the teaching day. As others have said, teachers’ devotion to the profession and their students is a legacy that lasts a lifetime.

You have opted to do a job with ever increasing responsibilities, and one that is tremendously important in helping your students cope with a world that is changing so rapidly. Thank you for your dedication. There will

be difficult times, but they can be overcome, and hopefully you can enjoy
many more gloriously successful ones. Good luck. It’s a tough job you’re doing.

Teachers you share a gift that children unwrap each day. They take this with them for a life time and it lasts the same. Thank you for risking your own personal health and safety for generations to come. We love you all!

Thank you for all the tasks the world does not see – the child you share lunch with, the smile you give automatically, the late night lesson planning, the shortened holiday to set up your classroom, the words to comfort a parent just divorced, learning new curriculum and designing lesson plans that the children delve into and…..the teaching during a pandemic. You are admired, loved, necessary for our future generation!

I will never forget all the amazing teachers I have had in my life. The effort and care they put into us students was unbelievable. Some favorite examples are a teacher who baked a cake for every student’s birthday, a teacher who taught us about oxidization with an experiment that burned a small hole in the ceiling, and another teacher who leapt onto their desk while yelling “SOH CAH TOA!” to help us remember trigonometry. Many teachers who came to school early and left late to offer extra help. One PE teacher taught me to value personal bests when the competition of team sports was making me miserable. Teachers have an uncanny knack for knowing how to support the needs of their students; I would never expect any teacher to go above and beyond the way many of mine did (I know they aren’t paid to work late!) but I am deeply grateful that they did. My teachers made a huge difference in my education and I am deeply grateful to them all for it. Thank you teachers, for all that you do!

Teachers always have the interest of every child they teach, at the heart of every decision they make, to make their classroom a community of learning. Thank you teachers for your dedication and always going above and beyond!!

After over 40 years as a teacher and school administrator, I have a deep appreciation for all that teachers do. I want people to know how hard teachers work everyday. Good teachers have a deep understanding of their students and are willing to do what it takes to make them successful. Teaching is not an easy job, but it is rewarding in so many ways. Please thank a teacher today.
