There are people in
our lives that make an
impact on us.
A lot of those just
happen to be teachers.
Here is a chance to say
thanks.
Please tell us who you are.
Schools were closed, then opened, then closed and opened again. Kids were sent home to quarantine and Zoom classrooms became all the norm. Teachers did as best they could. Parents, caught off guard, put in that extra effort to support their children’s learning. Often it was an overwhelming experience. But parents and teachers came to see each other in a new light.

Now with schools open and teachers back in class, it's time to reflect on what we've all been through and how we've depended on each other. And now, on World Teachers Day, let's throw teachers a well-deserved 'thank you.'
"On behalf of Alberta's teachers, thank you, parents for all you have done over the last 18 months to help support learning to continue."
– Jason Schilling, ATA President

I can’t imagine what the last 19 months have been like for you. However, you showed up and rose to the challenge. I commend and appreciate all of the flexibility and commitment that you’ve demonstrated.
Be safe and look after yourselves. You can’t be effective if you aren’t coping.
Carry on and be well. You are appreciated!

There are times when you may feel under-valued, but know that you are among the most important and influential people in society. You can be proud of your ATA. The work you do in teaching your students will never be forgotten. Best wishes.

Thankfully, I am now retired….I don’t know if I would have had the fortitude you have all shown. I loved my job, but never had to face a challenge like Covid!
Pat yourselves on the back!!! Patricia

Thank you to all our wonderful colleagues for the valiant and sustained effort to educate our children. Having retired many years ago, I am amazed at the strength and sacrifices you all make today during unprecedented times. I have to say that I am fortunate to not have to handle the stresses and challenges you all face daily. My hat is off to all.

Mr. Buckinani basketball coach. Thanks for encouragement.
Team involvement really helped me to adjust to moving to a new school.

As a retired teacher myself I hope that I have supported my students in their personal transitions.

As a teacher of 37 years experience in Edmonton I realize the efforts all teachers make to give our students the most complete education we can offer. Keep up the good work. Ed. B.Ed.1968

It is such a trial for teachers right now. They teach masked students, they clean desks 3 times a day, they have large classes, they have to fend off a ridiculous new curriculum, they have to do such paper work, they have no one helping them with some of the students because inclusion has become part of the program, they have to worry about Covid and bringing it home to their children and family.
    I’m glad I’m a retired teacher.

Tenured teacher whom is occasionally teaching. I am proud to be double vaccinated and I am hoping all students will be vaccinated as well as staff for a safer, healthier and more enjoyable experience in the school environment.

I remember all of the outstanding teachers I had in my school years, and though at the time I didn’t appreciate their energy and work, as an adult, I have come to realize that teaching and teachers are at the very core of a civil, productive, creative society. Thanks, and thanks again for all you do.

Thank you so much to all the teachers I’ve worked with for 32 years as a school secretary. All of you have something special to offer your students as well as fellow staff members. Keep up the good work and stay safe!

I am a retired teacher who knows what being a teacher is. As always and now with covid rearing its ugly head, I appreciate you every single day. You’re very special people, as are the health care workers. Please, any teachers who aren’t vaccinated, get the vaccination for the well-being of your students, your families, and of course, all Albertans. I appreciate your dedication, for sure. Stay well. 😊

You have the gift of shaping the most important people on our planet -our future leaders. Thanks is a very small token of appreciation for the hard work and dedication of you, our teachers. You spend more daytime hours with our children than we as families do and your influence will survive long into the future. Thank you for giving your best to our children. You are invaluable!

Teachers are the backbone of society—-they do more than transmit knowledge—they give of themselves and offer encouragement, hope and understanding to young people.

I am thankful for all of my teachers but I have very vivid memories of my Grade 2 teacher…Miss Fraser and then she married and name became Mrs. Montague. A lesson on the homophones: there, they’re, and their. She had beautiful brown shiny high shoes and referred to them when defining “Their shoes” – To this day, I ALWAYS think of that when having to use the word their! **I also LOVE shoes – kind of have an extensive collection! HAHA

Teaching is one of the best jobs in the world and as a result it attracts some of the best people. Teachers understand that children need them. Teachers understand that curriculum is important but learning is everything. Teachers understand that knowing your students is part of the job but that relationships make the difference. To all the teachers who juggle all the challenges of this amazing job, thank you. Our world is better because of you!
