There are people in
our lives that make an
impact on us.
A lot of those just
happen to be teachers.
Here is a chance to say
thanks.
Please tell us who you are.
Schools were closed, then opened, then closed and opened again. Kids were sent home to quarantine and Zoom classrooms became all the norm. Teachers did as best they could. Parents, caught off guard, put in that extra effort to support their children’s learning. Often it was an overwhelming experience. But parents and teachers came to see each other in a new light.

Now with schools open and teachers back in class, it's time to reflect on what we've all been through and how we've depended on each other. And now, on World Teachers Day, let's throw teachers a well-deserved 'thank you.'
"On behalf of Alberta's teachers, thank you, parents for all you have done over the last 18 months to help support learning to continue."
– Jason Schilling, ATA President

My heart goes out to all of you teachers for teaching in unbelievable conditions:,work from home , mask mandates and the whole nine yards. The sad thing is that it was all unnecessary if the entire situation had been handled wisely

Until I became a teacher I never appreciated the good work that they do. And I never appreciated the quality of character that they have. But, with time, they became my most admired people that I’ve ever met. I now am so grateful to have been a part of that marvelous group of professionals. Their work is so vastly underrated. Thank you for allowing me to be a part of your world.

I am writing in support of all Alberta teachers who have worked so hard to keep our kids safe and engaged during these past long months. Most especially, I wish to offer my heartfelt thanks to my grandsons’ teachers at Marion Carson Elementary and Colonel Irvine School. I am so grateful that they continue, in spite of disruptions, to love school and to love learning due to parental support and the dedication of true professionals.

You are doing an excellent job despite the unfortunate conditions that have existed for the past 2 years. Please know that what you do is appreciated. As a former teacher and a long time educator in this great province we can not thank you enough for your dedication to your students and to the profession that is often under appreciated. Rick Homan

I work with the most amazing staff that put kids first! They have had to endure a difficult time with covid and we are still dealing with it but our students do not miss out on anything because our teachers are masters in keeping our kids engaged. We focus on what we can do not what we can’t!

    Tracy,
Thank you so much for coming to Grade K Land to get my Kinders up and running on the Zorbits Math Program. People question why I would attempt to have a classroom full of 4 and 5 years all on the Chromebooks at the same time!?! It’s because you are there teaching them step by step in a patient and concise manner! I’m so glad that both my students and I get to learn from you! Happy Worlds Teacher Day!! Red Deer Public Schools is so fortunate to have you as their new Educational Technology Coordinator!

Thank you so much for loving the children you are in charge of and giving them the best education you can in these difficult times even though you have committments of families and other things. Thank you for the work you do but just a gentle reminder from a retired teacher that it is your job and not your LIFE.

My amazing third grade teacher, Mrs. Howell was truly an inspiration in 1958 as she brought the wonderful world of “Enterprise” to life. (Enterprise was the pre-cursor of modern Social Studies.) She helped us develop an understanding of other languages, people and cultures – and a deep appreciation for our own culture and a desire to travel and explore the world. Our Lethbridge neighbourhood was filled with recent immigrants after World War II and what we learned from Mrs. Howell helped us to accept and reach out to these new Canadians – our friends and neighbours. 63 years later and I still remember many of the stories, lessons, art projects, activities and songs that we learned. Bless you Mrs. Howell.
